Ef básleigjandi vill setja afslátt á básinn sinn sendir hann tölvupóst á sale@verzlanahollin.is með nafni, básnúmeri og afsláttarprósentu sem hann óskar eftir að sé sett á básinn sinn.

Hægt er að gera það með að hringja, senda tölvupóst á verzlanahollin@verzlanahollin.is eða í skilaboðum á facebook eða instagram.

Verzlanahöllin is closed the following days in 2024

1.january, 28.march, 29.march, 31.march, 1.april, 19.may, 20.may, 17.june, 5.august, 24.december, 25.december, 26.december, 31.december. If Verzlanahöllin is closed the day before the start date of the booking, then the booth renter can set up their booth from 16:00 on the last open day before the closed day.

The start of the rental period

Verzlanahöllin offers booth renters two convenient times to set up their booth. The booth renter is entitled to their booth one hour before closing time, the day before the rental period begins. That is, if the rental period starts on a Monday, the booth renter owns their booth one hour before closing time on Sunday. (Note – this does not apply if the store is closed the day before the first day of booking. Verzlanahöllin is closed the following days in 2024: 1.janúar, 28.mars, 29.mars, 31.mars, 1.apríl, 19.maí, 20.maí, 17.júní, 5.ágúst, 24.desember, 25.desember, 26.desember, 31.desember. If Verzlanahöllin is closed the day before the start date of the booking, then the booth renter can set up their booth from 16:00 on the last open day before the closed day).

Booth renters can make their items ready in the set up area of Verzlanahöllin two hours before closing time, or four o’clock (16:00/4PM) and can place their items in their booth an hour before closing time, or at five o’clock (17:00/5PM). If this time does not work for the booth renter, they are welcome to come to Verzlanahöllin at opening time, at ten o’clock (10:00/10AM) weekdays and 11 o’clock (11:00/11AM) weekends, on the first day of their rental. Verzlanahöllin closes every day at six o’clock (18:00/6PM) and booth rental setup should be finished by that time.

If the booth renter has not added items to their booth before 2 o’clock (14:00/2PM) on the first day of rental, and the renter has not let staff of Verzlanahöllin know they will be late to set up their booth before 2 o’clock (14:00/2PM) then Verzlanahöllin is authorised to rent the booth to a new renter.

Booth cancellation

The booth renter has the right to cancel their booth rental booking up to 15 days before the first day of the booth rental. A booth rental is only refunded if cancellation is received at least 15 days before the first day of the booth rental period. The booth rental is not refunded if there are less than 15 days until the rental period begins, regardless of when the booking was made. To cancel a booth rental booking, the booth renter sends an email to verzlanahollin@verzlanahollin.is.

Change of booth rental period

Verzlanahöllin cannot change the booth rental period if there are less than 15 days to the first day of the rental period.

Registering items

As soon as the booking is made, the booth renter decides a password to log in to their area on Verzlanahöllin website. To log in, the booth renter clicks on the “login” tab on the homepage. In their area, the booth renter needs to register all items they intend to sell in their booth. To do this, the booth renter clicks the “add item” tab. The booth renter then fills in the name of the item, a more detailed description about the item, the quantity of the item and its price and clicks “save”. Note that from 1.january 2024, a 100kr system service fee is added to the price a booth renter logs in. That is, if a booth renter registers a price of 5000kr on their item, then the price in the system and on the barcode sticker will show 5100kr and the item will sell at 5100kr. The system service fee, which is common in booth rentals abroad and in Iceland, fully goes to the computer company that created, designed, programmed and hosts Verzlanahöllin’s custom made and user friendly computer system and app. The service fee covers the cost of maintaining and updating the computer system. The system service fee is designed to have the buyer participate in the cost of maintaining the computer system so the booth renter does not have to cover this cost.

Staff of Verzlanahöllin strongly recommends that the booth renter writes descriptive information about the items they intend to sell, as it makes it easier to keep track of what sells and also increases the likelihood that staff finds an item’s description in the computer system, should the ticket fall off. A good practice is to always include the brand, colour and size of the item in the description. The name “yellow and green nike sweater” with a more detailed description “size 36” is better than “sweater”. At the bottom of the “add item” tab, the booth renter can check “do you want to add a picture of the item?”, choose an item category that corresponds to the item, and insert a picture of the item. If this is done, then a photo of the item with its description will appear on the main web page of Verzlanahöllin, under the tab “items in the store” where customers can view it. A more detailed description and a picture of the item can ensure that a booth renter does not miss out on selling an item that the price ticket has fallen off of.

The booth renter can either register the item before the booth rental begins or when setting up the booth in Verzlanahöllin on the first day of the booth rental. The booth renter can start registering the items as soon as the booking has been made or at any time until the start of the booth rental. The booth renter can pick up their tickets as soon as they have been registered into the computer system, if they want to put the stickers on at home (note that it is important to put the stickers on to a thin cardboard such as cut cheerios packages because the ticket will fall off right away if stuck straight on to clothing). Most booth renters have the tickets printed when they arrive to set up their booth. If the booth renter has entered the items into the computer system when the booth rental begins, the staff prints out  stickers with barcodes for each item registered to the booth. If the booth renter has not registered the item at the beginning of the booth rental, they can register the items in the computer system when preparing their items in the set up area by using their smartphone, ipad or computer. Staff recommends registering the items before the booth rental starts, as it saves the booth renter a lot of time. Each booth renter is fully responsible for their items having the right price ticket with the correct price. Staff does not check with the booth renter if the price ticket and price are correct or not.

If more than one person is sharing a booth, staff recommends the renters emphasise who owns which items when registering them in the system. For example, renters can use the abbreviation of each person’s name in the name of the item (for example: UN – green nike sweater and VK – black adidas pants) or use other ways to distinguish who owns which items (one person writes their items in caps lock, or one person has their items with a + mark, etc.).

Set-up area of Verzlanahöllin

Verzlanahöllin has a special set-up area where booth renters make their items ready before bringing them to their booths. The set-up area has clothing racks, clothing hangers, anti-theft devices, labels for the price tickets, a steamer and lint rollers which booth renters can use to freshen up and make their items ready for sale. There is also a photo wall, where booth renters can take photos of their items.

The booth renter registers for a tag gun that they use while in Verzlanahöllin and return it when they have finished using it. If not returned, Verzlanahöllin reserves the right to charge the booth renter the purchase price of the tag gun, 10.000kr. Verzlanahöllin does not lend items used in the set-up area for use outside of Verzlanahöllin.

When items are ready with the price ticket and anti-theft devices on and the booth is empty, the booth renter can roll their clothing rack to their booth and set the items up in the booth. There is space in the register area for more expensive items and the booth renter can also keep a few pieces of jewellery, perfumes or cosmetics in the register counter.

Theft policy

Anti-theft devices for each active item is included in the rental, that a booth renter can use for their items to decrease the likelihood of theft. Staff of Verzlanahöllin are in general on the lookout for shoplifters.

Verzlanahöllin exclusively offers the services of the rental space, computer system and staff who keep the store tidy and handle sales of items. Verzlanahöllin has no ownership over items, no say in what items the booth renter chooses to sell nor say in the price put on said items and Verzlanahöllin does not receive the profit for a sold item (the 25% commission covers services offered by Verzlanahöllin and use of Verzlanahöllin’s custom made sales software). Verzlanahöllin does not have a detailed overview of items each renter has brought to sell vs items each renter has registered to the computer system. The booth renter has full ownership over their items, chooses to put them up for sale in Verzlanahöllin, decides the prices for them and receives the sales profit. The booth renter is acting as their own personal shop under Verzlanahöllin’s roof. The booth renter therefore, just like any shop, has full ownership of and responsibility for the item they are selling in their booth. Verzlanahöllin can not insure items that are for sale, as only the owner of an item can have it insured. In the unfortunate event of damage or theft of a booth renters’ item, Verzlanahöllin and its staff are not in any way responsible, no matter where in Verzlanahöllin the item was located. By making the booking, the booth renter confirms that they are informed about this and have decided the risk is worth it for the convenience of selling their items in Verzlanahöllin. If a booth renter is not willing to accept the risk of an item/items of theirs possibly becoming damaged, dirty or stolen, they should not sell said item/items in Verzlanahöllin.

In the case of theft, fire and/or water damage, Verzlanahöllin is not liable in any way. The booth renter should check with their personal insurance company to see if their insurance covers these instances.

Item advertisements

The booth renter should consider their booth rental as if they are running their tiny, private shop for a limited time inside Verzlanahöllin. Staff of Verzlanahöllin strongly encourage booth renters to advertise the items they are selling in as many places as possible, just like regular shops do. Advertisements work wonders. In general, those that advertise sell better than those who do not. Advertising is one of the best ways to maximise the chances of finding the right buyer.

When registering items in “add item”, at the bottom of the “add item” tab, the booth renter can check “do you want to add a picture of the item”, choose an item category that corresponds to the item, and insert a picture of the item. If this is done, then a photo of the item with its description will appear on the main web page of Verzlanahöllin under the tab “vörur í verslun” or “items in the store” where customers can view it and see which items are available and which are sold.

In addition, there is a Facebook group “Verzlanahöllin – til sölu” where booth renters can advertise their items. Booth renters who use Instagram can also post photos to their story (the account needs to be public). The booth renter must tag the photos with the text @verzlanahollin – then Verzlanahöllin’s staff can publish the photos on Verzlanahöllin stories on Instagram and Facebook. Staff also recommends that the booth renter advertises in more places, for example on their own social media channels or in different Facebook groups (such as “66 north items for sale” or “plus size clothing” or “vintage clothing for sale” if the items for sale are appropriate for said group). The booth renter can refer interested buyers to Verzlanahöllin or suggest buyers call Verzlanahöllin at 510-5400, where staff handles service and sales. Staff of Verzlanahöllin also packs and sends items to buyers, wherever they are located within the country. Receiver pays for postage.

Property rights and item terms

The booth renter is responsible for their booth and the items in it in every way.

Booth terms

Changes to booths are strictly prohibited. The booth renter is only allowed to sell items that fit in the booth, any items too large to fit in the booth can not be sold in Verzlanahöllin. Placing items outside the booth is strictly prohibited. This applies to items and clothing that sticks out or overhangs from the booth. Hanging items on the outside of the booth, on its side or on the pink frame is strictly prohibited. Items that stick out of the booth will be moved inside it or removed altogether without notice. Verzlanahöllin reserves the right to charge a take-down fee and/or storage fee for removing items that stick out of the booth.

The maximum number of active items in a booth at any given time is 80, which includes items on hangers and items on the three shelves of the booth. It is not possible to add more items into the system, if 80 active items are already registered. The booth renter can add more items as soon as something sells. If a booth renter has a lot of thin clothing on hangers, they can hang more than if they have a lot of thick items on hangers. Staff strongly advises a booth renter against overfilling the booth, as it makes it look untidy and difficult to look through, which decreases sales, as people are likelier to skip past the booth without exploring what is offered in it. Staff strongly recommends the booth renter to regularly add new items to their booth during their booth rental period, especially as something sells, as it keeps the booth fresh and interesting through the rental period. However, the total amount of items in the booth must never exceed 80 at any given time.

A booth renter is allowed to have a maximum of 5 copies of the same item in their booth, at any given time. As soon as something sells, the booth renter can add more to their booth.

Verzlanahöllin staff regularly tidies the booths and makes sure items are not left in a pile on the shelves or on the floor. The booth renter is not required to come regularly to Verzlanahöllin specifically to tidy up their booth, but staff recommends that the booth renter regularly adds new items to their booth if something sells and strongly advises the booth renter to advertise their items. Staff returns items to their appropriate booths to the best of their ability each time, however with the high amount of customer traffic Verzlanahöllin has each day, throughout the hustle and bustle of the day, items from other booths might find their way into the booth renters booth and vice versa. Staff of Verzlanahöllin are grateful to booth renters that help return items that have ended up in their booth to their correct booths. Even though the booth renter is not required to stop by regularly to tidy their booth, the booth renter is responsible for making sure their booth adheres to the terms of Verzlanahöllin.

On each booth there is a pink frame to write information about what is being sold in the booth. To write on the frame, the booth renter asks staff by the register for special chalk pens. Staff recommends writing information about the items (for example, the general sizes of the items, brands, common prices etc.). Staff of Verzlanahöllin strongly recommends that the booth renter writes on the pink frame, as it increases the likelihood that an interested buyer will stop and look more closely at what is being sold in the booth. Some buyers walk by booths that have nothing written on the pink frame.

Items that can cause harm, such as tobacco, alcohol, food, weapons, fireworks, pornography, used cosmetics or other items the staff deems inappropriate are prohibited to sell in Verzlanahöllin. Staff has the right to remove an item that is not up to Verzlanahöllin’s standards, for example if the item is dirty, smelly, has holes or is unusable.

Items that have been continuously in Verzlanahöllin for 60 days must be removed from the booth, it is not permitted to relabel such items. It is in everyone’s best interest that there is constant circulation of items in Verzlanahöllin.

In general, all sales are final and the customer is responsible for thoroughly inspecting items before purchase. Returns are not accepted, except in rare cases where staff reserves the right to take back items where it has been discovered they were sold in an unacceptable condition. If that occurs, the booth renter is informed by staff.

Online stores and other types of stores are not permitted to sell in Verzlanahöllin. A booth renter can not order items from Ebay, Wish, Aliexpress or other similar sites to resell in Verzlanahöllin, especially items that are not EU certified. It is not permitted to sell new items and/or items that have been imported by the booth renter, Verzlanahöllin is not a storage facility for items. People who have a regular booth in Kolaportið or similar markets are not allowed to rent a booth in Verzlanahöllin to sell their items.

Business cards, labels and other types of marketing are not permitted in the booth. Staff of Verzlanahöllin reserves the right to remove business cards, marketing advertisements and/or items from booths without notice.

Organisation of booth and refilling of booth

The booth renter is responsible for their booth and can add items to it during their booth rental period. Staff of Verzlanahöllin encourages the booth renter to regularly add new items to the booth. An unlimited amount of barcode stickers (a maximum of 80 at a time), hangers and anti-theft devices for active items are included in the booth rental.

The booth renter can add to their booth at any time during opening hours of Verzlanahöllin (10-18 weekdays, 11-18 weekends). The booth renter adds items through their area on the website and comes to Verzlanahöllin to get the price tags printed and uses the set up area to make the items ready, just like they did when setting up the booth.

Lost and found items

If the price tag has fallen off an item and staff can not find it in the computer system or if a staff member comes across an item left behind after a finished booth rental, the staff will put it in the “lost and found” area of Verzlanahöllin. Staff of Verzlanahöllin recommends that each booth renter regularly checks the lost and found area to see if any items of theirs have ended up there.

If an item from a booth renter is missing after the booth renter has taken down their booth, staff of Verzlanahöllin strongly recommends the booth renter to stop by and search for the item. Items regularly pop up after a few days or weeks and sometimes after an even longer time. Items often pop up when other booth renters take down their booths. Each booth renter is responsible for looking for items from their booth. Staff of Verzlanahöllin does not search for individual items from each and every booth renter. Staff of Verzlanahöllin sends the booth renter a standard email if staff comes across an item that was left behind after a booth renter took down their booth. The booth renter has 6 days from the time the email was sent to pick up their item, as is stated in the email. After 6 days, the item becomes property of Verzlanahöllin and is sorted accordingly and/or given to charity.

Items without a tag are stored in the lost and found area for 20 days. If a booth renter has not picked up their item from lost and found within that time frame, the item becomes property of Verzlanahöllin and is sorted accordingly and or/given to charity.

Changing the price of an item

If a booth renter wants to change the price of an item, they do so in “my items”, finds the item there by going through the list of items or by writing the name of the item into the search bar at the top, on the right of the listed item, the booth renter clicks “edit” and after updating the price, the booth renter comes to Verzlanahöllin to get a new sticker printed and puts it on the item.

The booth renter is responsible for the right prices being on the items they are selling. Staff of Verzlanahöllin does not change prices of individual items for booth renters and staff does not put new stickers on items. The booth renter is fully responsible for the right price ticket and price being on their respective items, staff does not check with the booth renter if the ticket is correct and has the correct price or not.

Writing on price tags is prohibited and such price tags are invalid.

Setting a discount on the booth

If a booth renter wants to put a discount on their booth, they send an email to sale@verzlanahollin.is with their name, number of their booth and the discount percentage they wish to set for their booth. The booth renter can choose any discount percentage. After a request to put on a discount is received, staff of Verzlanahöllin sets the discount in the computer system and puts a neon discount sign on the booth. The discount is also visible on photos of items the booth renter has logged into “items in store”.

If a booth renter wants to take the discount off, they need to send an email to sale@verzlanahollin.is with their name, number of their booth and a request to remove the discount.

Moving between booths

The booth renter books the total rental period they want to stay in the booth. If the booth renter wishes to continue a rental, either in the same booth or in a new booth, they must make a new booking through the website of Verzlanahöllin. In those instances, it is considered a new booking and the booth renter needs to request that staff move active items from the old booking to the new booking in the computer system before the booth renter requests a payment of their sales profit from their old booking. When payment of the sales profit for the old booking is finalised, the items registered to the old booking are automatically deleted from the computer system. Unsold items from the old booking that have been moved to the new booking in the computer system are not deleted. The booth renter gets stickers printed for the new booth rental and puts them over the old price tickets. The booth renter is responsible for the correct tickets being on their items. This is especially important when a booth renter has made a new booking in a different booth from their previous booking, so customers will return the booth renter’s items to their new booth and not to their previous booth.

The end of the rental period

Emptying the booth

The booth renter should notify staff of Verzlanahöllin when they arrive to empty their booth. Staff will then explain the process of taking down the booth. The booth renter should have an ID with them, should staff ask for it and the booth renter must inform staff of Verzlanahöllin at verzlanahollin@verzlanahollin.is if someone else is emptying the booth on their behalf. Staff give a clothing rack from the take-down room to the booth renter with a hanging sheet on it, and the booth renter is told to hang their items on the clothing rack and to hang the sheet in the booth when it is empty. The booth renter then brings the clothing rack into the take-down room, where a staff member will go over the items and price tickets and remove anti-theft devices. The booth renter can then pack their items. It is important that price tags are left on when the booth renter is packing their booth. It is forbidden to take items without a price tag out of the store.

The booth needs to be empty at the very latest one hour before closing on the last day of the rental period, or at 5 o’clock (5PM/17:00) unless the booth renter has paid for the booth packing service of Verzlanahöllin. The next booth renter owns the booth from that time, just like the booth renter owned the booth an hour before closing the day before their own rental started.

If the booth renter can not empty their booth at the end of their rental, the booth renter can request that staff of Verzlanahöllin pack their booth. The packing service costs 3.500kr and it must have been requested at four o’clock (4PM/16:00) the latest on the last day of the rental. The booth renter needs to send an email to verzlanahollin@verzlanahollin.is or a message on facebook or instagram where they request this service.

Late fee

If the booth has not been emptied by 5 o’clock (5PM/17:00) on the last day of the rental and the booth renter has not asked for the packing service, the staff of Verzlanahöllin will pack the booth and charge a late packing fee of 5.000kr. Staff stores the items for a maximum of 7 days and a storage fee of 1.000kr per day is added to the late packing fee for each day the items are in storage of Verzlanahöllin. After the 7 days the items become property of Verzlanahöllin and will be sorted and/or given to charity. If a booth renter does not pick up the rest of their items, a late packing fee and storage fee totaling 12.000kr (5.000kr late packing fee and 1.000kr storage fee per day for 7 days) is deducted from the profit before it is paid out to the booth renter.

Payment of sales profit

On the last day of the rental, a “send request” button opens up under “my bookings” in the booth renters area within the website. The booth renter clicks the button to inform the accountant of Verzlanahöllin they have finished their booth rental and are requesting payment of their sales profit. The accountant of Verzlanahöllin has 2 business days to pay out the profit, after the booth renter clicked the button. The 2 business day period begins counting at the day after the last day of the booth rental. If Verzlanahöllin is closed, the closed day is not included in the counting of the 2 business days. Sales profit is only paid out of the booth renter has emptied their booth and picked up unsold items from their booth rental.

NOTE: When the accountant has paid out the sales profit, the items registered to the booth rental are automatically deleted from the computer system. The booth renter can download and/or print out a list of sold and unsold items under “my items” on their area within the website. The booth renter clicks the “show 10” at the top and changes it to “show 100” to see the total of sold and unsold items from their booth rental and then clicks the “pdf” button at the top to receive the list, which they can download, screenshot or send themselves as an email. It is important the booth renter downloads the list before receiving the payment, the list can not be accessed after payment. NOTE: If the booth renter did not save a list before payment and requests the list after receiving their profit, the accountant has to make the list manually. That takes up to 10 business days and costs 2.500kr, which needs to be paid before the list is sent to the booth renter. The booth renter can request the list by emailing pay@verzlanahollin.is

The booth renter pays 25% commission out of items sold at Verzlanahöllin.  The commission covers services provided, such as the computer system, use of hangers and anti-theft devices, fitting rooms, payment terminals and online payment options, light cleaning of booths, staff to help customers and so on. The booth renter can see the profit they will get at the end of their booth rental under “my profit” on the front page within their area on the website.

The profit for the booth rental is paid out to the account the booth renter registered when booking the booth, 2 business days after the booth renter requested payment of the profit.

The booth renter must request their profit within 90 days of the last day of their booth rental.

A booth rental is not considered finished until the unsold items from the booth have been picked up.

Services offered by Verzlanahöllin

Verzlanahöllin is a booth rental for people who want to sell second hand items from their home. Verzlanahöllin offers an affordable rental space for booth renters who want to sell their items, in a good location within the city with a lot of customer traffic each day. The booth renter pays a rental fee for their booth rental, which is the rental fee for the building. The booth renter pays a 25% commission of the sales price of items sold in Verzlanahöllin, which covers services the renter is using while selling their items in Verzlanahöllin, such as the service of staff who handle sales and keep Verzlanahöllin and booths tidy, use of hangers and anti-theft devices, price tag stickers included in the rental, availability of a steamer and lint rollers, fitting rooms for potential buyers of items the booth renter is selling, use of pos terminal systems to handle payments of items and advertisement of Verzlanahöllin to bring in more customers for the benefit of each booth renter and from 1.january 2024 a 100kr system service fee is added to each item in sale to cover the cost of Verzlanahöllin’s custom made, user friendly software and app to register items they want to sell, see in real time when items sell and easily request the payment when a rental finishes.

Verzlanahöllin is closed the following days in 2024

1.janúar, 28.mars, 29.mars, 31.mars, 1.apríl, 19.maí, 20.maí, 17.júní, 5.ágúst, 24.desember, 25.desember, 26.desember, 31.desember. If Verzlanahöllin is closed the day before the start date of the booking, then the booth renter can set up their booth from 16:00 on the last open day before the closed day).

Verzlanahöllin offers services that increase the likelihood of items selling, such as quality hangers that showcase the items, a steamer and lint rollers readily available to the booth renter to freshen up items they want to sell, anti-theft devices that the booth renter is encouraged to use on their items, fittings rooms customers can use to try on items they are interested in, Verzlanahöllin advertisements online and in other mediums which increase customer traffic to Verzlanahöllin and thus the likelihood that items from booth renters sell and the services of well trained and knowledgeable register staff that handle sales for items booth renters are selling and keep Verzlanahöllin tidy.
